My
first motorcycle race ever was in
2004 was a great year for me both on and off the track. Kurt Hansen and I took over the promotion of our supermoto race series. We now are Supermoto USA. Acquiring the series has not been an easy task. We worked hard to ensure successful relationships with other promoters, track owners and the riders. We certainly put out a 100% effort to make this a series for and about the riders. And in the end I think we were successful. The riders have indicated that the more club like approach has brought the entire race experience back to the fun and competitiveness that regional level racing should be.
Even though I have taken on the task of being a promoter, I have not given up on my own ability to race. I still am able to compete in the Vet and Mini Motard classes. I have also volunteered my expertise, parts and knowledge to those riders from our region that are capable of competing at the national level. I also spend countless hours helping new guys get both bikes and riding skills ready for the track.
Aside
from the race results I’ve achieved, I proud of my other accomplishments:
- Re-established Supermoto USA as a viable race organization in the Northwest Region of the USA.
- Recruited new racers to mini road racing, flat
track and supermoto racing
- Significantly increased my riding abilities
- In recruiting these people I have been able to add new customers for all of my sponsors.
- I’ve been able to support my
sponsors as much as they have been able to support me
- Helped in building the skills of other riders
through mentoring
My goals for 2005:
- Bring more people into the sport of motorcycle
racing, in all the forms that I participate in
- Continue to support my sponsors by bringing them
more business and more customers
- Proudly represent my sponsors to the best of my
abilities
- Support as many other racers as possible
- Enhance my personal racing skills in all
disciplines
- Finish higher in the standings
- More than anything else: have fun
